| "God paints on a vast canvas and his brush is
time." Paleontologist and Science Fiction Author of
The Sparrow Mary Doria Russell on
Speaking of Faith. I loved this quote. It reminds me of what
I strive to do with my Nature Photography, to show the grandeur
of the natural world that God has created and hopefully inspire
people to protect it. |

This is an interesting story from my church. Our
church recently adopted a road. While our church's volunteers
were cleaning the road the other weekend, a man stopped his car
to help pick-up trash. He asked where they were from, and they
replied Grace Church Commerce. "That is interesting, he said.
"Yesterday I was cleaning a local bike trail and got very upset
by all the garbage. I asked God where all the people that care
about the earth are. Then I meet you all." - Ken Jacobsen,
Founder of Nature Photos Online 6-15-2009

“There was once a town in the heart of America
where all life seemed to live in harmony with its surroundings
... Then a strange blight crept over the area and everything
began to change ... There was a strange stillness ... The few
birds seen anywhere were moribund; they trembled violently and
could not fly. It was a spring without voices. On the mornings
that had once throbbed with the dawn chorus of scores of bird
voices there was now no sound; only silence lay over the fields
and woods and marsh.” - Rachel Carson, Author of
Silent Spring

“You see that pale, blue dot? That's us.
Everything that has ever happened in all of human history, has
happened on that pixel. All the triumphs and all the tragedies,
all the wars all the famines, all the major advances... it's our
only home. And that is what is at stake, our ability to live on
planet Earth, to have a future as a civilization. I believe this
is a moral issue, it is your time to cease this issue, it is our
time to rise again to secure our future.” - Al Gore, former US
Vice President and Author of
An Inconvenient Truth: The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It

“By employing the intelligence of natural
systems we can create industry, buildings, even regional plans
that see nature and commerce not as mutually exclusive but
mutually coexisting." -
Brad Pitt

A human being is a part of the whole, called by
us, "Universe," a part limited in time and space. He experiences
himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from
the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our
personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to
us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by
widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living
creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able
to achieve this completely, but the striving for such
achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a
foundation for inner security. -
Albert Einstein

"There are some of us who can live without wild
things, and some who cannot. For us of the minority, the
opportunity to see geese or wild flowers is a right as
inalienable as free speech." - Aldo Leopold, author of
A Sand County Almanac

"Just as we show our love for the Savior by
reaching out to the lost, we believe that we show our love for
the Creator by caring for his creation. Because clean air, pure
water, and adequate resources are crucial to public health and
civic order, government has an obligation to protect its
citizens from the effects of environmental degradation. This
involves both the urgent need to relieve human suffering caused
by bad environmental practice."
