Mark S. Carlson was born in Lansing, Michigan, and has
explored the natural beauty of the Great Lakes State from shore
to shore all his life. His passion for nature and nature
photography soon led to his profession after his first image was
published in 1980. Since then, Mark's work has appeared in
magazines, books, on music CD covers and calendars. Some
highlight publications that have featured his work include
National Wildlife and Nature's Best magazines, and
the Self-Realization Fellowship Inner Reflections
Engagement calendar 2007. He is a featured photographer in the
book Michigan Simply Beautiful, from Farcountry Press.
His fine art photography is regularly exhibited in galleries and
in private collections throughout the Midwest.
Mark offers his expertise as a naturalist photographer during
guided photo tours he conducts all around the Great Lakes region
(www.greatlakesphototours.com).
He also presents his photography in programs with inspiring
themes of environmental awareness. Mark's greatest satisfaction
is derived from sharing his vast knowledge of nature and
photographic art with other kindred spirits.
He and his wife Debra, reside at Looking Glass Overlook,
their 30-acre private nature sanctuary along the Looking Glass
River in Shiawassee County, Michigan.
